![]() Just be warned that I have had way more headages then I have ever wanted at this point. Keep working at yours if you are trying to do this as cheap as possible. This of course saves them time and money, but it comes out of our pockets. They just want to replace the whole damn thing. Transmission shops do not want to fix them any more. (they are going to go bad sooner or later anyways) But you may need a new O/D tail section or rebuild on this unit. You could try Replacing all of the electronics in the trans. I have not seen what you are explaining happen. It MIGHT be that the O/D solenoid is not holding pressure to the plates.Īfter a lot of searching for this problem though. And BIG THANKS to everyone who has helped me. Smooth, quiet, FASTER!.Īnyways, I hope this helps others. ![]() ![]() I have never driven this truck before with a working second gear, where the ECU actually KNOWS what to do. I took everything apart and put the new stuff in, filled it with fluid, and took it for a ride. Im sorry if Im missing anything but I think thats it. I basically used a rachet, Torque wrench, 5/16" open end wrench, 3/4" open end wrench, SQUARE DRIVE 5/16" socket, 1/2" & 7/16" sockets. I have very little experience with auto tranys and had no clue what tools or any thing else I needed. Today I went to tighten the forward and reverse bands and put these two pieces in. I tried manually running it through the gears and could not get into second ever! I picked up a Govenor and transducer from the dealer. Some times it would get confused and shift to third too soon and then shift right back to first even at 45- 50 mph. (96 1500 46re ) It would run first out way too long and go right to third. Her WJ will not be our mode of transportation but, it's our mainstay for the 200 mile round trip to our local doctor visits, due to it's 21-22 mpg.I basically was having a lot of trouble shifting to second gear. Our money is tight because we are trying to get her to Houston, TX for some specialized cancer care. I can wrench on most Jeep projects and am confident replacing these two parts. I changed out the TPS last year and understand that it can already be bad but, a bad TPS will not cause both of the codes, as I understand it. The Ebay seller has no items in his store, at this time. I've looked around pretty thoroughly and this thread seems to be just about my best bet. I'm a intruder here (I'm a TJ Rubi owner) and my wife's '04 Laredo with 150K on it just popped the P1762 and P1763 codes. While $100 won't break the bank, it is a substantial sum right now. The new parts, Governor pressure sensor on left and solenoid on right.Ĭlick to expand.I need someone to double check me on these parts. ![]() I strongly suggest doing it yourself.unless you are really a dummy or you have absolutely no access to basic tools.any shop would rip you off because it sounds wayyyy more complicated than it is. ![]() Anyways i erased it and my jeep ran fine for a few days then it came back.and lately the transmission actually was stuck in first gear until 3500rpm.so i went ahead and i bought a governor pressure sensor and solenoid, a new filter and some atf4.i took some picture and hopefully it can help some of you guys. #98 ram pressure govenor sensor codeI then checked with the obd2 reader and i got the code p17.which is the governor pressure sensor improper voltage i think. The other day my check engine light came on and then when i tried shifting the jeep in D, the transmission would automatically shift in 3rd gear and it felt really sluggish to take off.unless i shift it manually in 1st. If your transmission started acting up like mine, this might fix your problem. ![]()
